How to Use Digital Marketing to Boost Sales

Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen lots of retailers re-open as lockdown measures have eased.

Customers may be returning to physical stores, but an online presence has never been more important. Internet use has skyrocketed through the lockdown with many consumers relying on online research before they go into a physical store, and also to make purchases online instead of visiting a store altogether.

To keep up with this change, it’s crucial for independent retailers to ensure their online presence is up to standard to get the customers through the door, or to enable them to make a purchase directly online.

Let’s take a look at how you can improve your online presence…

Digital Marketing

Digital marketing is a little more complex than social media and often requires a small budget, but don’t let that put you off! Digital marketing is one of the most effective ways to reach new customers and it’s easier than many people think.

Google My Business

Google My Business is a free tool from Google that allows you to promote your website on Google Search and Maps. This service is a great way to target local customers and makes it much easier for your customers to find you when they search for businesses near them.

All you have to do to get started is set up a Google My Business account and fill out the relevant fields. From there you add your website, phone number, pictures and lots more.

Optimise your website

Optimise might sound scary but there are lots of simple ways to make sure your website is doing the right things to get to the top of the search results.

Start by looking through your website and make sure it’s easy to find your products, after all that’s what the customer is there to find. You can also make sure all the pictures used on your website are good quality and the content is well written throughout the site.

Online Training

If you want to take it a step further and learn some more in-depth digital marketing techniques, you can take advantage of Google’s free online courses on Google Digital Garage.

These courses are filled with tips and techniques for small businesses to get started in the world of digital marketing without having to put aside a big budget.
