Design & Development

Where it all begins...

Our Design and Development department is the foundation of our company. Beginning with just 1 designer in the 1990’s our growth has seen the development department expand to a 15 strong team committed to creating innovative new designs for sofas and beds.

By keeping abreast of emerging trends in both shape and texture we are able to present inspiring new collections driven by our own seasonal launches or by working to the design briefs and timetables of our clients.

We know that to ensure Whitemeadow stays at the forefront of the industry we need to continually bring fresh new designs to the market and to that end we encourage a working climate for inspiration. Our design team gain their inspiration on fabrics and styles from a wide and varied pool of sources and we actively encourage travel in order to keep at the forefront of emerging trends, helping to ensure that the components and fabrics used are the best quality and value combined.

Our Upholstery design still begins in the same traditional way as it has done for years, when pencil hits paper and a concept is drawn up for the first time. This, combined with modern day technology such as SolidWorks & CNC result in pin point accurate prototypes demonstrating how a simple sketch can become a custom built piece of reality. R&D is central to the Company’s new product design process and is integral to developing and bringing a new piece of furniture to market.

From the latest catwalk fashion trends & seasonal colour palates through to quintessential British furniture design that is recognised across the globe – we manufacture upholstery to inspire our customers.
